The average person moves nearly a dozen times in his or her lifetimes, which means you could face several stressful moving days. But moving day can be less stressful if you follow some of these tips.
Be organized when packing
When packing up your items, be as organized as possible. Label boxes not only with what’s in them but also where the items go in your home. For example, you might write, “clothes, master bedroom” on the box. That helps ensure movers put boxes in the right spot and leaves you with less to do after the movers leave.
Make arrangements for kids and pets
Having kids and pets under foot on moving day is not only annoying, it can be dangerous. If at all possible, make arrangements for kids and/or pets to stay with someone else on moving day. If that’s not possible, shut your pets in a room that won’t have to be accessed. For children, designate one adult to watch them while the other adults help with the move.
